Hi chaps,

Would appreciate some advice - I am looking into the details of somebody being declared bankrupt. Looking at the Insolvency Case details from the County Court (available online) I see a case year of 2013 and order date of Oct 2013, and a Status that is "discharged Oct 2014".

What does this mean? They were declared bankrupt a year ago or last month? How long will they have known about it, and what does it mean for me if I am trying to get some money out of them via MoneyClaim Online?

Thanks in advance!

Did they owe you money when they went bankrupt?

They were declared bankrupt in 2013, effectively after this point their estate is looked after by the official receiver.
Bankruptcy generally lasts a year, sometimes less sometimes more, during this time it is illegal for them to get credit and they may have stipulations in their bankruptcy about salary sacrifice.

Once discharged the bankruptcy is over and their financial affairs are their own to look after.

How do they owe you money?
