Hi

A family member needs a will sorting out for reasons which would make a Coronation Street Christmas special look ridiculous smile
It involves leaving money in trust to grandchildren as well as dishing a bit out to others at the time of death, plus other stuff.....

When pondering who best to draw the paperwork it occurred to me that I have a mate who is an IFA
We have had no business dealings at all barring who's round is next in the pub and I havent approached him about this yet but he is a decent bloke, a proper mate after all and Ive known him for years, his website also lists that he does wills as well as the usual IFA stuff

I can see the advantage of getting a solicitor to do the work as its likely to be difficult with some family members but as a major proportion of the estate will be left to a couple of teenagers for 10 years or so I can also see that an IFA may be able to assist in making the most efficient use of this bit of the inheritance until it is cashed and released to the brats

Comments welcome

Cheers

A solicitor can talk to you about the big picture and the legal structure and offer you some thought about how to structure the document and suggest contingencies etc. An IFA can discuss the pros and cons of the various trusts and wrappers etc that you might need to use. In principle, they should be able to work in concert with each other.

A good IFA for advice on how to set it up most tax efficiently and solicitor to draw it up in line with the IFAs advice.
