Interesting. His equity fund is flying - literally.

20% in his first year isn't half bad but can everything he touches turn to gold? This new one seems a little more risky and long term. Be interesting to watch but I'm oot. I would have been in if it wasn't for this massive increase.

Read the prospectus; liked the ethos.

I've put the whole year's ISA amount into it; happy to stick £15k on a ten year bet. Not looking for early returns at all.

Opportunities for small savers/investors are dire at the moment, so the risk is worthwhile.

Very interesting meeting this morning with Woodford. So much so, we've been invited to meet with Neil next Thursday.

I've asked for information on the trust to be sent across to me. I'll break down the facts and copy it on here so doesn't look like I am giving advice!

Well Im back in......
14/04/15 9247396 £ 3,000.00 Woodford Patient Capital Trust Share Offer Invest Pending

Even though I said I wouldn't - Ill give it a punt again. I think it trades tomorrow
Applications close tomorrow (Friday) at 08:00, trading begins on Tuesday next week.

I think Neil Woodford is a good place to put your money but as others have said, its risky but I suspect long term it will pay off.

Chaps

Sorry for the delay in replying.

I've heard from the Relationship Manager and was hoping for a little bit more feedback rather than a link. With that said, I've received an email this morning with Woodford -

*We have always wanted to minimise the chances of scaling back applications. This was a key reason why the Board recently took the decision to increase the share issuance to £800m. However, investor appetite was not the only factor we and the Board had to consider: it was very much a balancing act between the amount of capital raised and the Trust’s investment rationale and remit.

We needed to select an appropriate figure well within the level needed to manage the investment strategy and deploy capital in the 1-2 year period outlined in the original prospectus. The Board, in close consultation with Neil and his team, concluded that £800m was the optimum figure.

The level of investor appetite has exceeded our expectations and as a result the issue was just under 10% oversubscribed. As a result, applications have been scaled back in accordance with the terms set out in the prospectus. The level of scale back is far lower than would have been the case if the size of the issue had not been increased by £300m on 9 April 2015.

A look at conventional investment trust launches over the past couple of decades or so shows that a capital raise of more than £500m has been an extremely rare event. So to raise more than £800m to invest in a previously overlooked asset class is a tremendous endorsement of the patient capital strategy.

The Trust has struck a chord with investors and triggered healthy debates whether on our innovative fee structure or on our decision to publish a supplementary prospectus. I’d expect those debates to continue, but for now Neil and his team – with more than two-dozen early-stage and early-growth stocks in the pipeline – are looking forward to putting your money to work.*

The said link - https://woodfordfunds.com/our-funds/wpct/

When I met with the RM, he confirmed that Neil and the team where confident that they would raise a high amount of Capital, however, didn't want to start with a high figure, so opened up at the £200 million mark, which was achieved very quickly.

The RM also confirmed that there is a fee for is work. So, once (if wink ) you make a gain of more than 10%, any gain after the 10% is charged at 15%.

I have it up 2% and change. (WPCT LN)
Seems about right given that they rather accurately managed the raise as Mr T helpfully explained above.

I still think this should trade in the 5-10% premium to NAV range - note I am obviously biased... DYOR etc...

It needs to be up 2% just to cover the 1.5% beer money they nicked at the outset! smile

Almost a year in, and it's trading down. How does the performance compare to general market conditions vs April last year?

It was a ten year investment for me, so I'm not concerned. It's funny watching the daily disposals though http://www.hl.co.uk/shares/shares-search-results/w...

I'm actually wondering, if it's still at this kind of price come April this year, of buying some more with the new year's allowance!

Wasn't helped by the confidence knock by the large biotech loss, originally held a large premium over NAV but now...

Whats the best way of getting involved in this, I've only ever bought basic equities before in my ISA via Interactive Investor. Its so rare, I don't even have a clue what my password is....

Any of the other funds of his worth a look at the moment? Not looking to go crazy, just bung a few quid in, maybe close to the Isa allowance before it resets.

This one carries a bit of risk, it's a long term investment, you'll need to be patient! Have a look at his other fund, CF Woodford Equity Income, there is another tread on here about it.
