OP,

It's all down to context and I'm not suggesting your mate would or wouldn't make money out of this, but if it was being recommended, I'd love to hear the reasoning and justification behind that thinking!

Funnily enough I just came across someone who'd had one of those blow up on them. Another complete scam.

Loads in Liverpool. I was looking at investing in a student house about £70K, for 3 or 4 letting rooms, and came across "student pods"

£40K apparently gets you one POD about 15 foot by 10 foot and "Guaranteed" return of 10% for first 5 years. Does that mean they take your £40K pay you £20K back over 5 years and pocket the £20K?

Ha, me too - an "IFA" apparently! I said at the outset to her that I personally wouldn't touch something like this, but that I'd have a look into it. The links to the press articles above are pretty conclusive...

Anyway, this thread nails it in terms of why this would be a bad idea - thanks all.

They don't though. By the time everyone involved has taken their cut what is left is much smaller and the people I know who run these scams will have spent that money already so need the next set up to keep financing their lifestyle.

When I read the post title I knew it would be Glasgow airport. They are flooding Facebook with adverts. You have to be crazy to get involved. I was sitting outside a hotel in London a few months back and heard someone saying they had invested in airport car parking at Glasgow. That's how broad their advertising has been.

I work in the airport industry and part of my revenue line is airport parking revenues to many tens of millions per year.

Happy to help any PHer considering investing with a view on this.

We get all the dodgy ads as they tend to use logos illegally, make claims that are untrue and so on...
