Credit reference agencies ( free check)
Discussion
Is there any such thing ????
Are all credit ref agencies giving out the same information ??
I have always had an impeccable credit history, even when out of work payments were made on time, due to a credit reduction letter from my bank that says for info go to a credit ref agency ( rang the bank and they will not say what they have been told) I am just loathe to pay £15

Yes - try http://www.noddle.co.uk/
No - the agencies all carry similar data but don't necessarily all use the same sources.
The other two, I think, give you a free trial - but you have to give payment details when you sign up and then remember to cancel before they charge you.

Same here - It was working a few days ago though.
Thanks, hope it's not been hacked, makes me nervous going to keep a close check on my bank account now. marshalla said:

I registered with Experian, (30 day free trial)
Came back with a 'good' score, 6 points from excellent, there were 6 positives and no negatives, makes me wonder what callcreditcheck, who are now compass and the chosen company of Lloyds are talking about
Make sure you cancel well in advance, they still took the first months 'sub' from my account, ended up having to call them to cancel, they would not refund my sub.. It was all a bit 'underhand', from a company which is meant to be protecting us all against fraud!Came back with a 'good' score, 6 points from excellent, there were 6 positives and no negatives, makes me wonder what callcreditcheck, who are now compass and the chosen company of Lloyds are talking about

Being declined for credit doesn't mean you have bad credit it could just be that your profile doesn't mett their requirements. Eg a PAYE, homeowner with low debts would be viewed as a better risk than a self-employed tenant with a few credit commitments. Both could have exactly the same score on a credit file but assessed differently by each lender.
