If it was £90 then id leave it. If it was £900 I wouldnt.
There is definitely a value at which it would be worth considering leaving it; that goes for anyone.
If I take £90 from you would you say 'That's fine, enjoy'? No. So why should the OP?There is definitely a value at which it would be worth considering leaving it; that goes for anyone.
If the OP wishes to give £90 to the Estate by writing off the debt, that is their choice and their unnecessary generosity.

OP's choice really but the amount of time it may take to get may be more than its worth.
The OP didn't ask for an opinion if you would bother, but how to chase the money.
You're off topic and it's not required. It's tits like you that make this place a pain in the arse to get help on. Everyones got an opinion, but most are smart enough to keep it to themselves. He doesn't give a st if you'd not claim it. Either off him help with his problem or bugger off.

Good point, well made. You're off topic and it's not required. It's tits like you that make this place a pain in the arse to get help on. No further comments from me.

I also suspect that if it's at the lower end, she can't afford to write it off. How many people on £10/hour can afford to waive 9 hours?
Very surprised by your stance - would you also expect your customers to purchase goods from you, die, and then have their estate tell you to ps off, just because they've paid you enough over the years?
Fair Point. Very surprised by your stance - would you also expect your customers to purchase goods from you, die, and then have their estate tell you to ps off, just because they've paid you enough over the years?
However Id also suggest that anyone going into business should realistically know that not everything will go to plan and prepare for this. Occasionally you get shafted one way or another. Ive had plenty problems getting paid, in one case waiting over 6 months for around 8k. At the time enough to almost sink my business.
So do I really care if my suppliers are paid up to date all the time? No.
I guess to go back to the OPs post, without knowing the amounts, it really depends on what its worth, relative to the person. If it was a relatively small amount to me Id wave it. If it was a reasonable amount Id be pretty pissed about, but doubtful if Id chase it. A large amount, lets say a weeks income Id maybe be inclined to enquire about getting paid, but would approach very delicately and expect to wait a long time to get paid.

Have you any proof the work was completed, and accepted by the dead granny
Yes, I will wager that the cheque will stand for this. In fact, case law says so... OP as above you really just need to notify the estate that you are owed X amount and that this cheque bounced. Invite them to confirm that the cheque will be honoured.
