Hi can anyone help, I've sent a payment to Barclays from Santander to a car main dealer. The accounts details are correct, however checking with my bank they say sort code 20-00-00 is for Barclays 1 Churchill Place Leicester, some google searches show this, however the branch it should have gone to is Barclays 1 Churchill Place London, some google searches also show this as correct.. which is right?

I've got a very long acceptance code which proves the funds have been delivered and accepted so hopefully it's kicking around in Barclays systems and will filter its way to the correct account, I'm a bit worried as it's relatively a large sum and normally my faster payments are there in seconds, also faster payments can't be withdrawn. Probably won't find out until Tuesday now, would have liked to know it's all completed.

I think there's a limit on the amount that can be sent via Faster Payments for it to be a sameday transfer. Over this limit and (IIRC) it becomes a normal BACS transfer. My "work" bank account tells me to send anything over £10k by CHAPS rather than FPS if I want it to be same-day.

Thanks for the info, it's only the deposit so well below the limit. I think bank don't nessarasarly assign sort codes to certain areas, not sure what more I could have done, I got the account number and sort right, it was emailed over to me but somehow between the two banks the payments not reached.

Barclays were doing maintenance on their FP gateway around that time...so it may take longer to be received

Recently had Satander reverse an FP which had reported as completed to me - very irritating UX.

Ring them up and check they've actually sent it - with mine, they didn't phone me, didn't send me a letter, and so far no-one has phoned me back about my complaint.

The local branch will have its own code, its likely the payt will get there, but may have to wend its way through several layers of Barclays first, that said, if you used an IBAN, these tend to be branch code specific and get there regardless.

20-00-50 looks to be the head office you might have wanted, but this is a 3rd party site, best to check with Barclays thenselves
