Bank account for a non-Brit

A friend is coming to the UK on a Tier 1 Entrepreneur business visa and intends to rent a place and set up their business. However, they have asked me for assistance with regards to setting up a bank account. How would they go about this considering they would have no proof of address?

I had this when I returned to the UK some years ago, I opened a Building Society savings account, I could pay cheques/salary into this and do standing order for rent on a flat, then when I had an address opened a bank account.

More recently, my wife is non European and moved to the UK a few years ago and she bought a house we put the cash price of the house into her solicitor's client account and then took a letter from the solicitor to the bank and they gave her a current account on the spot.
