After being in debt for all of my adult life, I'm now reaching a point where the only money I owe will be the mortgage.
No credit cards, no loans, no nothing (well, apart from the house..)

I've managed to have and maintain a pretty good credit score, but I've also read quite a bit regarding needing to have outstanding credit lines in order to maintain this score? Would it be best to use a day to day credit card which is paid off at the end of the month or will a mortgage be suffice?

I'd rather just use cash and my debit card for standard purchases, but I do want to be able to take out credit in the future if need be..

Why not get a cashback credit card?

Mobile phone contract?

Think that counts as an open credit line, does it not?

Thanks to all, I've now got a cashback credit card, paid in full when the bill arrives. That should suffice.
