I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but if you're in a DMP the chances are you've defaulted on at least one debt, and you'll be issued a default notice that stays on your credit file for 6 years. Anyone who's had one will know exactly how clear they make it. There's no point signing up to a service that tells you that you fked up a year ago, oh, you fked up and it's now 2 years ago....the chances of getting a decent mortgage anytime soon are fairly slim.

Anything additional that's not declared needs to be declared, it makes it really hard to save for anything, but the point of a DMP isnt to allow saving (though you can still pay in to a pension) it's to clear the debts off as quickly as possible

Also, whoever said divvy up all the debt and make equal payments, in a DMP that doesnt work out the same way. Looking at the amount owing and where the money can be spent quickly to bring the debt down faster is a better way of slicing the cake. As in, it's not equal. But this would be for the OPs debt company to organise and negotiate

Getting out of debt is actually a lot easier for most than they are willing to accept.

If you are living with your mother and she is willing to forgo rent/bills etc then you have a massive income to play with.

You need to cut up all card and cancel any services that you have that basically aren't there to help you breathe.

Buy a catering bag of pasta and tins of pesto/tomato and go on a frugality diet. This means you'll be only spending a couple of quod a day on food.

Get rid of your car, get a scooter.

Get an evening job, such as bar work.

Your debt will be gone very quickly and you'll be free to live as a man again.
