Hi All

Completing on my new house on Monday next week.

I have a settlement figure from my solicitor, but Ive been advised to send some extra money over to cover any surplus.

The only thing I can think of is that on a daly basis my mortgage is accruing interest and I reckon at worst that would be £500 for the entire month.

Ive opted to add £1000 extra just to be sure.

Does this sound a reasonable figure? Obviously Ill get back anything not paid once all is done.

I dont like not knowing EXACTLY what I need to pay, but this seems to be the norm!

unless your mortgage is in the millions it should be more than enough. Interest is often calculated on a daily basis so that shouldnt affect things too much.

Depends on the size of the purchase etc, I had about £4k over on the day but that was because I had offset mortgage so wanted more of a buffer.

Your better off putting in more than you think just in case IMO, for mine any excess after completion was transferred on the day back to me.

I didn't think my solicitors advice of some extra was very helpful, she also seemed to think I would know what that extra was!

Pinged her an email with my maths, hopefully she will agree.

Bank account looks healthy right now though, the things I could buy from the for sales section on here :-) Never has a Ferrari been so affordable!
