Best call center used to be Lloyds Premier, it used to ring once, if at all before the call was answered by a real person. Then Lloyds removed the earning cap from the eligibility requirements, reduced the quality of services and introduced a forced automated gatekeeper system, so I switched bank accounts as soon as.
Agree with this, they were very good. Since the split, I became a TSB Premier customer and it was interesting when meeting with the local bank manager in that they were trying to convince me that I did not need this type of account. I believe for many banks the premier benefits costs them money, which the monthly charge probably does not cover..

Included in mine was:

Travel cover, quite comprehensive including winter sports
AA emergency/Boiler cover
Mobile Phone cover
AA breakdown
Credit reports

No love for the Halifax Ultimate Rewards Current Account (love the name)....?

I am deciding between the halifax account and flex plus at nationwide. Halifax does give £100 for switching, too.

Nationwide have just offered a savings account with 5% gross as a FlexPlus customer (not sure if it can be had for the free accounts too?). Can only put £500/mo in but still pretty reasonable!

I'm considering the Nationwide account. Anyone had any experience of the breakdown cover?

It's a 'regular saver' type account, a bit misleading to be honest. Interest is paid yearly , but the money needs to be in for a year, so you'll get 5% on your first £500, but a decreasing rate on the £500s going in on the following months. You can pay in £6k over 12 months , but you don't get 5% on the full £6k.

I've recently had a letter from Barclays advising that their "Savings" rate is reducing from 0.65% to 0.25%. Pure comedy. The long term lack of value of "Money" as an asset class will eventually prove extremely damaging to economic stability IMO. Some might say that's already being proven via asset price inflation (property, shares etc).

Where's it all going to end? Welcome to "Corbyn World".

So does Nationwide if someone refers you - £100 each. Ask if you need a referral code wink

Until recently I was with Barclays Premier paying (IIRC) £17 a month for a number of features I didn't use and some reasonable travel insurance which I did.

I switched to the Santander 123 account who between interest and cashback pay me around £32 a month net of the monthly fee.

Having had the Lloyds, HSBC and Barclays Premier accounts I came to the conclusion that the customer service was pretty much the same, the features weren't good value for money and that it was mostly a way to charge an excessive account fee in exchange for a fancy debit card.

To add, I moved to the Santander 123 account and get the 'select' service. Think of it as Premier light. However, I have a number to call and always get through to a person, 24/7 and don't have to navigate the phone menu. In the past 2 years, I have received c. £900 back.

I've used it, it was the AA who actually provided the service when I called them out, so they were quick and helpful.

Not Britannia then? Britannia must buy a load of cover and then sell it off in bits to nationwide and others...?
