Guys, just had what appeared to be a productive meeting with a law firm Associate reference trusts and wills. Now received a follow up email from her signing off as "Private Client Associate, STEP Affiliate".
I was reading some old threads on here recently and recall some bad comment regarding "STEP", advice/comments much appreciated before I commit....thanks.

STEP = Society of Trust and Estate Practioners.

I'd lean towards saying good things - if I were seeking will/trust advice it would be from a STEP member, rather than avoiding them. That said, I think affiliate member means they're working towards their STEP qualification

The advice is not from STEP. The advice will be from the person or firm you use. By displaying a STEP designation the person has completed their exams through STEP and decided to become a member (great way to expand network, gain new business, stay current on industry news and a good way to get CPD) I am a full STEP member and hold the professional qualification in Offshore Trusts and Estates so can carry the TEP designation if I wanted to, I leave it off my sign off as I feel it adds nothing.

As with everything like this, the advice you will get will come down to how good the person you are dealing with is and not what they studied.

I see mo issue using someone with a STEP designation.
