Hi

Can anybody advise on this. My grandfather who lived in Norway passed away last year. His house has been sold etc etc. My mother (in UK) and her sister (in Norway) are joint benefactors of his estate.

Question is, as the inheritance in coming from abroad what are the tax implications for my mother in the UK (if any)?!.. We're talking about £150k.

Thanks

For your mother, nothing.

Inheritance Tax is usually paid from the estate of the deceased. The deceased was in Norway. Was the individual a Norwegian tax resident?
If they were, I would expect any death related taxes due would be payable to the Norwegian tax authorities.
