Morning all,

I'm off to France on holiday later in the summer, and I'm wondering when might be the best time to buy Euros, depending on the outcome of the referendum.

If Remain wins, will there be a sudden positive spike before things settle back down, suggesting buying quickly would be a good plan? Alternatively, might Sterling slowly strengthen, making it more sensible to wait until just before I go?

Likewise, if it's a Leave vote, will Sterling plummet and stay low, plummet and then bounce back a bit, or just decline slowly?

I guess anyone who could predict this accurately would probably already be a millionaire, but I'm wondering what everyone thinks?

I think euros will be slightly cheaper tomorrow, but the power of the EUR is affected by this result so it's not going go crazy.

However, if you wanted some cheap american electronics, tomorrow is the day to buy your $

(btw i'm fairly certain of a remain result, maybe incorrectly)

Personally I hope you're right.

Other opinions are available - most of them in the News, Politics and Europhobia forum here on PH!

I'm just glad I'd paid everything but the spending money - and one week of the two is full board including beer & wine - up front!

Still, it's all small change compared to how fked we're all going to be for the next 5-10 years after yesterday's vote! hehe

Got my Euros at 1.273520 from HSBC online. They are still selling at 1.211030 versus Travelex at 1.1011 - even though their service is provided by Travelex.

on the other side; I've got quite a lot of Euros when shall I switch them into Sterling?

Not in Greece apparently.

A sign has gone up somewhere in a holiday resort that the owner of that particular business is not taking any Sterling for the foreseeable future because of uncertain exchange rate issues.

Well, it was obviously completely wrong advice anyway. It should have been at 14:50 UTC today (yesterday for those in the UK).

I'm still holding them, think I'll wait for 1:1!

OK so my little wink pile of Euros has grown and the rate continues to go the right way for me... do I bail at 1:1 or hold on?
