I know this may seem odd, but to qualify for the Barclays Cash back when booking with Expedia, do you need to use that Barclays Account to pay?

Yeah I think so. I need to spend about £2k on my Amex in the next 2 months to get 15,000 bonus avios miles, so was hoping to get a double whammy bonus!
