I'm still suffering the fallout from my Paypal hacking, I found out last week that a loan has been taken out with Sainsburys Finance in my name but at my daughters old address (the only link for me to that address is that I was joint mortgage holder with her for a short time). I've notified them and have been asked to "urgently" speak to Sainsburys Finance fraud department tomorrow as they don't work over Bank Holiday. There was also a loan application with Capital One at the end of last year which I haven't yet managed to get removed from my credit record afer 'phoning and writing to them telling them that it's nothing to do with me.

After the hacking last year I started to use 1Password for everything and it's now second nature and very esy to use.
Bloody hell, that's awful, I'm really sorry to hear that frown

There really are some utter bds out there!

With the loan application, was your old address linked to your PayPal account? Just trying to work out how the hackers, knew your old address to take out a loan etc?

Maybe you should ask Sainsburys for a copy of loan application to see what details was used for employment, if used employment details that matches to your current employment/previous then it's probably someone closer to home that's carrying out all these fraudulent stuff.

No, the Paypal account is linked to my current address. No idea how that address has been identified as being linked to me unless it came from the mortgage company or somebody has succesfully also hacked
into my credit scoring account where it is listed as a previous linked address because of the mortgage.

I am retired and have been for 10 years so no employment linked to that address, also, the property in question is currently vacant and up for sale and my association there ceased 11 years ago.

Gotcha, I wouldn't worry too much. It will all be investigated ofcourse by sainsburys and they'll get the account closed down and removed off your credit file. - I'll be pushing for them to get police involved too as money has been paid in an account for the loan so they'll be able to found out which scumbag is doing it.

Going forward, I believe you can ask the credit reference agencies to put a password on your credit file of some sort, which means when you apply for credit, you won't get accepted/rejected straight away, it'll go to underwriters and in order to get approved for whatever you'd applied for, you'll need to provide them with the password registered with the credit reference agencies.

Hope it all gets resolved quickly, not a nice feeling, happened to me myself.
