The fact they have security measure in place is no problem, its the fact that I can still log on to online banking, but because my PIN on my card was entered incorrectly means my account is essentially in locked down mode. Why not make it a separate system like Natwest. Lose your card you can still use online banking, forget your pin you can still move money around. I have no problem with it being secure but they could at least help me, Ive been on the phone to them and proved to them who I was so why not let me move money around ?
Maybe I am beings stupid but you attempted to log on to your Barcalys account and used an incorrect pin 3 times this locking your account. All good as that is bank protocol.
You then reference how Natwest are great because they allow you to log in due to losing card or forgetting number, all fine but don't see the similarity in the actions.
I would bet that if you attemt to use your card at Natwest and used an incorrect pin they would have the same lock down of account as Barclays, if not I would seriously be looking at moving banks.
If are going to criticise a bank at the least use apples for apples on what you are comparing, totally different transactions and scenarios.
I would be happy my bank had such tight security.
Ivy the way I have been a Barclays customer for a number of years and stupidly had a similar problem, was I annoyed, no I was pleased that they had such security measures.

Went into local Barclays bank to see what could be done, the nice lady had to ring somewhere to find out what was going on, she put the phone down on the person she was speaking with simply because they spoke to her so rudely and it was uncalled for, the lady next to her also said that Barclays staff at other locations talk to other staff like absolute rubbish and dont help at all. Says a lot. Eventually all got sorted - Money was transferred once the lady had double checked that my driving license was enough for ID. Got to wait upto 3 weeks for a new PIN to arrive.,

So, after all this, you're not going to tell Barclays where to shove their account?

You deserve each other.

Thought about online?

I have an online ISA and it's one of the best rates I can get for what I need (instant access).

Barclays app is great. OP is a tool.
Can't agree with this, pretty much everytime Barclays update the app,the old version stops working and I have to update then re authenticate, which means using the pin sentry machine and a code sent via a mobile, all a huge faff, other banking apps I have are more apple, they just work.
Are you using the iphone version of the app? I am and i have never had any issues with it updating? No need to re authenticate or anything and it even works perfectly with touchid. Also more in keeping with the thread, i havent used my keypad since i got it, i can set up new accounts to transfer money to with just a quick automatic phone call to authenticate?

Works every single time with mine, iPhone 6s, due to the phone and not the app?

The premier banking app is absolutely brilliant.
