Folks,

I'm currently watching an eBay auction for some AV kit in London. Listed as collection only but I've emailed seller and he has provisionally agreed to a courier collection at a set time since he won't wait in all day, also...

"Oh, and provided that the courier issues me a documented collection note showing collection, sender, addressee and tracking details"

The price of the item is definitely low enough to warrant some extra hassle for me but wouldn't warrant me driving to London to pick it up (6hrs plus return trip!)

Any courier recommendations who'll pick up at a specified time and also give a collection note?

Ta!

Is it too big to drop off at a collection drop off point ?

That's an option, don't think the seller will go for the additional effort though!

All couriers will collect at a specified time to a point, none will give an exact time. Also nowadays everything is done online so the physical collection note is almost a thing of the past as labels are printed by the customer and attached to the parcel.

How are you paying, Paypal? If a dishonest buyer pays by Paypal and claims their account was hacked, Paypal will claw back the money from the seller unless they can prove delivery.

For posted goods, that is easy. For collected goods that is hard, and the seller is optimistic if they think a collection note will protect them.

Cash on collection is the only solution.

is it in the original packaging , if it isn't the chances of it arriving in one piece are low and it'll be down to you as you arranged the courier , a damages claim won't stand up if he's stuck a £500 amp in an apple box and stuck a label on it .

Packing delicate items for posting takes a bit of time

Www.interparcel.com will give you the prices, plenty of drop off options but I think you'll struggle to get an accurate collection time
