At long last I've managed to find a investment management company who can make a profit out of a falling market. Step forward Invesco. £4k up in last 6 months. Pity my other companies can't match it!

On which funds? Invesco manage a lot of money across many funds!
Can’t say I’ve noticed our (small) growth & income income funds doing much.....but then you could be talking about £4k on a fund of £10m for all I know!

It hasn’t been a falling market for the last six months. It’s only really been a falling market for the last month. Your manager probably hasn’t been making money in the last month unless they’re doing something exotic (and risky?).

Also, saying “up 4K” is meaningless. What is that in percentage terms?

Over the past 2 years I was up 22k on an initial 55k spread over 3 ISA funds.

Thanks to the last month, I'm only up 15k.

So still good but gutting to lose 7k so quickly.

Which is why IFA's tell you not to look at your funds too often. biggrin

Look on the bright side, you could have had more in the fund and taken a bigger hit last month.

I'd say the bright side is more that you could have never put anything in there and not even had the 15k!

I was with a major fund manager yesterday (he has well over £10bn under management) and I was surprised to hear that he doesn't see the European markets as majorly overvalued.

I was also surprised to hear that he thought we would look back in 10 years time and be glad we weren't being asked for a cash call by the EU when the project fails. He is as far from a Brexiteer as it is possible to get.
