How does this Ebay scam work?
Discussion
I spotted a 'bargain' on Ebay yesterday and became immediately suspicious someones account had been hacked
Because I was bored I emailed the address listed in the hacked ad and received a pretty convincing Ebay invoice by return
Unfortunately his Paypal account wasnt working - I hate that too LOL - and he supplied Nationwide bank details ie sort code and account number
So how can he be so sure there will be no consequence if I was stupid enough to transfer the cash and the police become involved if his bank details are known?
The sum involved would have been about £3,000 so not inconsequential
Cheers

Either not his account, but that of a patsy who has responded to an advert wanting financial controllers who receive money and send it onwards, or a burn account opened slightly fraudulently.
You pay £3k to that account, and I would be amazed if its still in the account a couple of hours later.
