I'm going to stick in a lump sum to get it started this FY and then make a regular monthly payment, hopefully benefit from averaging out the cost a bit that way.

I looked at doing my own portfolio of funds, but on Charles Stanley I would have had to throw £500 at each fund I wanted to include to get started, which didn't really reflect how I wanted to set it up.

Interested to see how triggering Article 50 might impact the prices.

Thanks. I am planning to do something similar but cant do anything until the next tax year as my ISA allowance for this year is already used up.

Am out of the country when they push the button on brexit so wont be able to take advantage (if any) of that either as there were a few bargains after the brexit result was announced.

I'm not sure you'll miss much - Brexit was an event the markets weren't expecting. 29th March is a known event.

Yeah, think that's my conclusion too. The bumps in the road as the negotiations progress are possibly more likely to impact the market I guess.

If you want to do a portfolio of funds as well, you could also open an account with HL whose minimum investment is £100.
