All, I'm in the last part of my degree and now I have a job lined up (doesn't start until end of July) its looking like my finances are going to be a little "lean" this summer.

I'm looking to borrow £5-7k for as little as possible, my credit score is good but my current situation, where I'm earning nout until August and then quite a bit, is making it difficult, I'm sure most places will want payslips etc.

0% credit cards look good but my current one only as a £1500 allowance so I doubt I'll get more than that. All these rates and charges get very confusing and I don't want to naively put myself in a corner with debt.

IMO - forget it until you're working

live lean until august

anything could happen in the meantime re the job you haven't yet started

eta unless family members are available to borrow from (bank of mum and dad?)

This.

It's surprising how little you need to live on for a short while if you stop spending money on non essentials and are not afraid to live on Corn flakes and beans on toast.

You will be glad come August, which is not THAT far away.

Why not get a summer job, have a bit of fun and earn some most ney before proper one. Taking a loan to pay your lifestyle could end up being dangerous.

Not the answer you want to hear but I agree with the others on here. Get a summer job and have a laugh while living lean before you start your career.

Even look into getting a job in the sun over summer. I knew someone who got a bar job in a restaurant in Portugal for the summer season. Free accommodation and food with beer money basically. He worked hard but had a brilliant time and met loads of new friends.

You will not regret the experience and not having £5,000 to £7,000 of additional debt when you get back.
