Am I right in thinking there is no realistic difference between the two as Cavendish use Funds Network which is Fidelity?

Looking at a S&S ISA and was going to use Vanguard direct but I think I want to put a small amount into some non-Vanguard funds.

Account fees for Cavendish are 0.25% v Fidelity 0.35% v Vanguard 0.15%

I have Cavendish but I can just go to the fidelity site to log in. They don’t even have a reskinned version of the site anymore. It’s essentially the same platform with a different charging structure.

Yep, Cavendish just offer cheaper access to Fidelity.

So having done a ton of homework on the lowest cost options for my ISA I go and open with Fidelity via Cavendish only to find that they can't verify my identity so need me to post in copies of documents. Which need to be notarised. Which will cost me money.

I'm on the electoral roll, full clean credit record, banks, credit cards, utilities you name it so god knows why they can't find me.

Bloke on the phone at Fidelity said it happens quite a bit and there's no rhyme or reason to it.

It's a tenner to get the docs done @ the Post Office but after all the pissing about I've done it's annoying not to be able to crack on for a few days biggrin

:-( - you can't find someone at work who meets the requirements? - I'm told NatWest will do it for free if you're a customer.

For the sake of a tenner I'd sooner just use the Post Office as that way there are no doubts.

It's not the ten quid it's just irritating after all this prevarication about who to use and what to do.. typical smile
