Investment company had vanished !!

Hi Folks

My elderly father invested a large sum of money (against everyone's advice) and now nobody knows where they are !!

He originally invested in a company called Anglo Manganese which somehow merged into a company called Benefication PLC. He has never received any dividends from them . Their phone lines are debt and all mail sent has been redirected back to him.

Could someone kindly advice what he needs to do in order to track down the owners of these companies and get his investment back?

Only advice I can give is to go to www.thisismoney.co.uk and click "Experts" in the purple menu bar at the top and then click in the "Ask an Expert" window (top of the right column) to contact them. They regularly sort out things for people who've had no luck themselves. That said, I'm not sure they've ever managed to get to the bottom of numerous investment scams like this that they've featured on the site over the years.

Both Beneficiation and Anglo manganese look like they’re about to be struck off the register, though somebody has appealed the compulsory striking off of Beneficiation. Anyway, you can get director names here and start digging...

There is a companies house entry for "beneficiation plc" -note the extra "i" which is involved in "Support activities for other mining and quarrying" - don't know if related?
