A relative has ‘claimed’ this but made an error.

He has given part of his personal allowance to his wife, but she doesn’t earn enough to pay tax.

They have no other income apart from state pension and one private pension.

Basically he is now paying an extra £252 in tax each year, and there is no chance his wife will be a tax payer as she only gets state pension.

While he has removed the allowance for the tax year starting April 2025, he is still paying the extra tax this tax year and last.

Is there any easy way to reverse this position and get the tax refunded? Ideally he doesn’t want to do a tax return.
