1998, and I saw a face painted on the inside bulkhead on all of the cars that where in line for upholstery being fitted.

The chap who was showing us round said they painted different faces there and that it was a tradition.

Anyone shed any light on this.

Regards

Tony

We noticed that when we visited the factory, we were told that is was a pic of Gary Numan.(can't remember what his band were called). no doubt someone will post the name.

seems like whoever makes the body for a vehicle, always leaves a sign, as if to initial it, each person has there own identity mark. When I went to the factory saw one with "gay tw*t" written on!!

Legend has it that the Cerbera built for David Beckham has some rather non-complimentary comments and cartoons about him hidden under the trim.

I thought that was because one of the sprayers was named the same but with a different spelling.

A bloke in the trim shop is a Newman fanatic and sprays a template over each car he trims.

All three of my TVRs have had the Newman stencil. When I visited the factory in June 2005 to see my Tamora in final build I asked the trimmers working on the dash if they could sign it (this was before the tour) and they said they're not really into that... when i came back to my car at the end of the tour not only had they signed it but they had gotten almost everyone else involved with my car to sign it too! I then added my signature.

I don't remember the name of the person who does the Newman stencil. He was off on the day I was there but two of his team mates were and you'll find a photo of them on my blog. They're a team of three that work on the fibreglass bodies wet sanding out all the imperfection, they were working on a Tuscan when I met them.

The guys who built AC's at Thames Ditton always signed their work, different signatures on various panels etc. over all my cars from there.

It must have been something special being able to see your car being created, very cool indeed.
