Excuse my naivety here, but I don't get the impression that Tesla are aiming to be a credible car company. Surely their long-term goal is own the network of charging points, and become the "Electric Exxon"?
You mean the ones they let their customers use for free?Charging points is a non-issue.
Almost no journeys need one if you have a 250+ mile range.
Charge at home or at your destination.
It's just marketing for the paranoid.
As for the removal of the guarantee - it looks like they simply don't need it.
Now there is enough of a functioning second hand market with >50% resale at 3 years there is no need to hold cash back to reassure new buyers. Those new buyers can see perfectly well that the residuals are fine, no?

Supercharging is only free to Model S and Model X owners... they have pointed out that Gen 3 buyers will have to pay for the privilege.Charging points is a non-issue.

Doesn't matter anyway, as soon enough they will start phasing in their ultra-quick 'battery swap' technology... no doubt they will own the battery packs and you'll pull up to a 'electric station' and simply swap out an empty pack for a full pack, essentially just paying for the new energy (read fuel)... if its 50% cheaper per mile than petrol, it will catch on quickly... completely illuminates range anxiety too (no different to feeling an IC-engine car). And they'll make a killing (if they can patent the technology).

I haven't run the numbers but while I agree it will alleviate 100% range anxiety there just isn't the demand for it.Hardly anyone drives more than 250 miles.
And the price you can... well... charge is limited by the price of fuel because if it is too expensive then the long distance drivers (their only real customers for swaps) will just stick with ICE.
So you have a limited demand product with a price set by something completely independent.
It's just not a great business model.

What do you mean by a silver breakdown?
Sorry late reply was expecting silver to come down in price, not exactly happening since then. Anyone played the gold miners recently? Quite the run for Gdx since Jan, feel like I've been waiting ages for a pullback in Gold to get back in was looking for a 1280-1300 figure.
Speaking of Tesla, could be on for a break out soon.

I hadn't... interesting reading, thank you.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Better_Place
I would say though, that Better Place were not in the business of both making cars and supplying energy, just the latter. So just because they failed, doesn't mean others can't succeed... and an EV manufacturer to boot.
