I did spot this on the big winners list note the total holdings third down!
That'll be from the 70's - I have a similar serial number £5 bond. I wouldn't be surprised if they can't find the holder.condor said:
I've kept £11 in premium bonds that I was given when I was born so as to keep my Holder's number - perhaps that person did for the same reason - Good luck to them
It says their holding is £1 - although if one of my old bonds won I guess it would say the holding was a fiver. I got a new holder number for my recent purchase as it never occurred to me to try and use the old one.TonyTony said:
2x £25 on £3,500.
Somebody won £10,000 off a £1 holding from 1964.. Some luck!
It's mentioned above. Didn't think it was that old though, the letters on my £5 bond are similar and I just dug it out and it's 1972.Somebody won £10,000 off a £1 holding from 1964.. Some luck!
There's every chance the 1964 holder is no longer with us. Wonder how much effort they put into tracing.
I used to work at the co-operative bank as a customer service advisor and I took a call from an elderly lady who was asking where her nearest branch was, she seemed really excitable on the phone so just asked why she needed to know and she went on to tell me that 3 months prior she'd invested £20k and she'd won the £1m top prize. At first she thought it was her family joking around when she took a phone call from the rep but it was real. I've done bonds ever since.
Unfortunately only £50 for me this week...
