Premium Bonds - Not a bean for months now!!!!
Discussion
I hope you guys with big cash in Premium Bonds have other investments as well.
Over the past 5 years anyone in an Equity Income fund has made an absolute packet.

In short no.My/our 'windfall' investment in PB will be relatively short term (say 12 months) before it all gets withdrawn as it's all been ear-marked for home improvement projects.
Our thinking is that investing it anywhere else we could only expect a very small return - at least with some bonds there is an outside chance that we might make a few quid ..... and so far we're not exactly disappointed.

....unless you invested at the beginning.Anyone who has invested steadily into shares/funds through the last 10 years will be sitting on big returns. The probability is that anyone who's been in cash will only be breaking even, once you adjust for inflation.
Sometimes trying to avoid risk can be a very high risk strategy.

I had some money sat around earning bugger all, so just cranked my investment up to 40k. We'll see how that works out....
Let me guess,- You won't win the big prizes, which take half the money. Or at least, you're more likely to die horribly in an accident.
- You'll earn an overall return of about 0.6% tax free.
- Inflation will continue to run at, say, 1.6% p.a.
- Overall you'll lose value at 1% p.a.

I have 30k in and in the last 6 months I have won £300 (all made up of £25 wins) so over a year that is 2% return, beating banks and inflation.
Yeah me.
