I squeaked through with 206 over the 4 papers and a 48 in one. That was 6 months after passing stage 3, its fair to say the drinking session after the 4th paper was a bit epic... I woke up saturday with no recollection of friday.

I'm thinking of going with BPP, do you guys know if they are better than Kaplan?

also is success rate of passing with, say BPP, higher than doing it along? because if I quite my job I will have a lot of fees to pay back!!

Congrats to all those that passed exams recently.

I've been a long time lurker of this thread and tbh its one of the better ACCA vs CIMA debates out there.

It finally got me to get my arse in gear at 27. I dropped out of uni nearly 7 years ago, and I am going to study CIMA through Derby University in September 2013 starting at certificate level.

I've been a long time out of education (reading things on the internet doesnt count) so I'm hoping I don't find it too hard to fit in around work. Thankfully though I also work for Derby university and my manager is very understanding and is going to help me work out how we can fit it all in along side my current work commitment.

Prospects and rewarding career here I come. Wish me luck!

If you're already in work and you have a brain in your head, certificate level shouldn't be too difficult, as it's more a case of codifying things you know anyway. I'd say reading things on the internet does count, as it helps with familiarity. You might need to adjust or reappraise what you know, but if you are at least aware of the concept, it sinks in more quickly, as you already have something to bolt the proper knowledge to.

Studying and working can be a challenge, but the key is to remain disciplined. The other thing I'd say is don't pressure yourself to fly through it as quickly as possible. Find a pace that works and go with that. I know people who have been taking three papers a sitting and getting into endless cycles of resits. Although it steps up at strategic level, I've concentrated on one at a time up to now, as that's the pace that has fit best around my work and personal life to date.
