A work colleague suffered major fire damage when his dw went up. I genuinely didn't know they were prone to doing so!

Dw only on when I am in the house now...

I would not leave any domestic appliance on when the house is unoccupied, other than fridge/freezer - just not worth taking the chance IMO.

My wife's cousins house burnt down due to Siemens dishwasher. Husband took kids across the road to the park for half hour while dishwasher was and the next thing smoke bellowing out of the windows.

Unbelievable how this can happen and the companies have not done a major advertising campaign for recall

Our slimline Bosch had to be done as a result of this , has anyone else noticed a marked drop in cleaning since its been done ours is now struggling to clean plates let alone pots and pans? Never had a problem before have tried changing tabs checking salt and rinse aid etc Used a dishwasher freshener and cleaner , checked the outlet pipe is not blocked and that the supply is constant.

Our's is badged Hotpoint although it was made by Bosch, in a Bosch factory (some where made by Hotpoint under licence). The date code is in the affected range but the mish-mash of Hotpoint and Bosch part numbers don't seem to match anything in the recall, and I recall that the model was uniquely made for Hotpoint.

Hotpoint sent an engineer out to have a look at it - he took the controller out and said it was fine. Stuck a green spot on the door and left it at that.
