I don't have a query - I just wanted to be first on the thread!

Slow day!

Edited to add

anyone have trouble getting GIMP to work in 10.6.8

I had no X11 installed, installed it off my 10.5.5 disc, but no joy.

I also have no query. I think I speak for all PH'ers when I congratulate John on being the first responder on this thread. It takes years of dedication, and commitment to be able to pounce in and lay claim to such a title, and we hope he goes on to bigger, and better things.

If we can charge our glasses...

Anyway, a few vids that I did for folks on here/family.

Adding stuff to iTunes/iOS

How to use handbrake

If anyone wants a how to vid for something, just ask and I'll try to get one done.

Hi All

Decided to download OSX lion today, since then my wifi has been dropping out.

A quick search on google tells me i am not alone with this problem, I am working through some recommended fixes now.

Has anyone else on here had this problem ? It is common to OSX lion.

Haven't had this issue on my 2010 Air, or my 2008 unibody MacBook.

This is on my 2010 iMac

The apple forums are linking it to wifi preferences, i have removed other networks and put mine at the top.
I have also put wifi at the top of the services order.

It took less than an hour to download and install, i have just done a software update and after restart my wifi connected automatically so fingers crossed it might be fixed smile

In OSX Lion how can I set it up so my desktops and full screen apps open in the order I like?

For reference I have 4 desktops followed by itunes full screen then calendar full screen. But when I start up, I usually have 1 desktop, the 2 full screen apps, and then the remaining 3 desktops.

Fairly confident you can't. It's determined by OS X according to how often/recently the app's been used. Probably.

Selling my iMac, do I need to reinstall lion with the new owner's apple id or is there some way I can eliminate my apple id from the computer before sale? I've lost my damn osx disk so not sure how I'm going to reinstall, I do have the usb stick that came with my mba.

Also in regards to applecare, does that pass with the computer or the apple id?

Apple care will pass to the next owner. As for your apple ID, just create a new admin user, and delete the user you have. It should give you the option to delete the entire user stuff.

You may want to check it, but that's from memory.

Yup. I posted this problem on here a few weeks ago. I had the problem the minute I downloaded lion. Initially it would drop out randomly whilst online. I have done all the updates and now it just seems to drop out after going onto sleep node. Very frustrating especially as it took 36 hours to download!

Good memory recall - was just about to suggest the same thing.
If you wanted extra assurance, there's probably a couple of free apps on cnet (formerly versiontracker) and macupdate that'll offer "wipe free space" - once you've deleted the other account.
Changing the old User account (command + i) privileges within the new one, to root & admin, may allow you to drag it to the trash can, and use Finder's Secure Delete feature.

How about just rebooting from the lion install partition. Erasing the disk using disk utility secure erase and then reinstalling lion to give a completely fresh insall?

Not just me on here then!

I waited until this week to download Lion, it took less about an hour to download and install which I thought was pretty good.

Wifi with snow leopard was rock steady, never dropped out once in they year I have had the iMac.

I have joined the support forums and will post here if anything works for me.

Is it just an iMac issue?
