Thanks for that weather update! Your app doesn't show the wind, I thought the Turdis was going to take off this morning... How do I follow Gill's blog - I couldn't see a button.

ta digger talking of blogs, is there any way of creating a dvd from this thread or Gills blog? Gills mum & dad are not on the internet & it'd be lovely for them to play a DVD on their TV some way, I guess I could screen shot the whole thread & output somehow. maybe a post in the computers section...

Easiest DVD content would probably just be a slideshow of your photos with title cards as per the old silent movies (piano background music optional) every couple of shots with a description of what they show.

Just a quick post to say what a fantastic project, really enjoyed reading the thread in one hit.
One of the most poignant things is that Mrs 2.5 pi and I are in a spookily similar situation , in fact we are on a trip in a fortnight to get our bearings in the Perigord , big thanks for the inspiration!

Any idea where in Perigord or is it a general fact finding ?
Pvapour When you Google Razac 24500 on aerial view there is what looks likes a dirt oval, any ideas what it is.Could it be a grass track as that is very popular in that area?

We're basing ourselves in St Saud initially and gently bumbling around for a week or so, we then return for a further more detailed look in September , we're kind of waiting for the Euro debacle (currency one not footie..) to reach some kind of conclusion before getting too serious. I also need to persuade Mrs 2.5 pi that we need to move rather than holiday there all the time

I'm sure it's Eymet that my Grandparents have a painting of (by my grandma) hanging in their house. About an hour and a half down the D18/D708 from Riberac. Swear none of the French actually live there!

house is moving ahead at a good rate still but this is as much about our journey as the renovation itself, Its quite easy for me to get absorbed by the build because I enjoy it with such a passion, sometimes though I realise how blinkered I've been to what's going on around me, not normally very long, a couple of weeks or so, but when I do open my eyes a little wider I like to capture the days that follow, here's a few pics of the things that have grounded me the last couple of days... the Macro photo flower bed that Gill planted specificaly for me & that I've not taken any pics in yet _MG_3060 by pvapour, on Flickr _MG_3065 by pvapour, on Flickr _MG_3061 by pvapour, on Flickr _MG_3069 by pvapour, on Flickr _MG_3066 by pvapour, on Flickr late eve so a little lacking in critters, but managed a few, a favourite of mine & a few more around this year since it was wetter early on _MG_3109 by pvapour, on Flickr _MG_3110 by pvapour, on Flickr _MG_3099 by pvapour, on Flickr morning glory on our grape vine trellis as we were to late for planting of the grapes, this is a weed apparently! _MG_3165 by pvapour, on Flickr _MG_3162 by pvapour, on Flickr butternut squash _MG_3159 by pvapour, on Flickr melons, love melons _MG_3158 by pvapour, on Flickr in the 30s most days now, Tias been getting a little hot, set up a shower for her in the garden (for all of us really) but now the farmer is using sprinklers on our prune trees, she loves it! _MG_3139 by pvapour, on Flickr _MG_3143 by pvapour, on Flickr _MG_3128 by pvapour, on Flickr _MG_3124 by pvapour, on Flickr she's getting good at jumping _MG_3152 by pvapour, on Flickr

Loving the garden photos, I'm just waiting to actually get on with ours. Structural stuff first on the house. I can't help thinking 'It's not rocket science, I'll do it myself' but I won't, that'd no doubt be a disaster! E

you've upset someone Roo hope it brightens for you, we've downed tools for the mo as we're both laid up in bed ill so thought I'd post some of what we've been doing to make our selves poorly last update was making good the stonework bed for the beam, this beam had its support removed so it was necessary to add another beam along side to help support things, so this is it in situ, pre stressed and bolted to old beam. DSC02650 by pvapour, on Flickr DSC02651 by pvapour, on Flickr this moved me onto the flooring upstairs, all the joists had to be removed, cleaned, re-sited and screwed into place, then 1" marine ply screwed down at 400 centres. DSC02681 by pvapour, on Flickr DSC02686 by pvapour, on Flickr DSC02687 by pvapour, on Flickr DSC02699 by pvapour, on Flickr this lead me to sort our some plumbing that needed to run under the floor, much easier from the top than below DSC02707 by pvapour, on Flickr this is pretty much the future view from the bed, the pipes sticking up will be a wall with door to bathroom, wall will sit amidst the oak beams so you can still see them. DSC02711 by pvapour, on Flickr Gills been chipping away at the old render, really starting to show its character on the outside now, we'll be pointing with lime render soon for some colour variations DSC02710 by pvapour, on Flickr
