Any brickies in Bedfordshire want to price up building a 1m x 5m brick wall for me?

Cheers,
Phill
rooftop garden barbeque?
If only. Want to replace a bit of badly fitted fence that is attached to the house...
No whoosh parrot, just a nudge in the direction of the convention of width x height for masonry.

And I leave you with a little joke to further hint you on the way. wink

Irishman walks into a builder's merchant. "Can I have 25,000 house bricks and two square feet of steel mesh?"
Assistant. "What do you want all those bricks for?"
Irishman. "I'm building a barbecue".
Assistant. "You don't need all those bricks to build a barbecue".
Irishman. "I do, I live on the 18th floor".

Resurrecting this thread as I've tried a load of searches (both on PH & other sites, but to no avail...

Basically - we're moving house in a couple of months and the place to which we are moving has a huge front garden, but currently no gate and just a flimsy-ish fence to the front.

Were looking to get a ballpark cost of having a couple of piers with wall to either side on which to hang a double gate

a little like this:

So - a couple of questions to my PH bods:

1) what would this be called to describe the job - (for the purpose of ratedpeople/mybuilder type sites) to get some quotes through) Gate opening and brick piers? Driveway entrance? Garden wall?
2) How many bricks (roughly)
3) how much & how long for a couple of bods to do it? (we're in the South East)

anything else to consider when getting someone in to do this kinda work - assume it doesn't need planning permission?
