I love this thread, but my internet connection hates loading it!
The pics are from facebook, I used to upload small ones but now use hi-res as they are better for looking at on there and I can't be bothered to upload them twice. This was what I was holding while posting on PH with the other hand!
Roof is coming on well today, got an excellent chippy!
We couldn't go any further as all the other trusses are supported by the steels which should hopefully be here tomorrow...
Quick straw poll on window/soffit options courtesy of ms paint!
Black with black soffits
White with white soffits
Black wndows, white soffits
The original image
I think we are both quite keen on the black windows with black soffits and oak window cills, a decision needs to be made by friday as they are coming to measure up then.

Grey is an option, but I think it will look very "new".
The current windows are not white, but pale green, I don't think that would look right on new ones either.
Get the TC out of the way - but you have a calling in development. Lovely work so far and clever budgeting. The current windows are not white, but pale green, I don't think that would look right on new ones either.
Maybe running building jobs for partners who can't leave the office for fears of a restructuring
Enjoying this thread, I was going to post my own mini thread but mine is more evolution rather than big bang change, and the mrs deleted half my pictures.
Personally I really like the black windows (which is lucky as that's what I have / am in the process of replacing).
I wouldn't mix black windows with white soffits/ fascias though as that looks wrong to me - too distracting to the eye, either all white or all black. I struggled for ages to justify black frames, but the more you look around, the more you see. White is the obvious dare I say it boring option.
I also have a black cill on my door which actually looks good, and is maintenance free rather than wood, which is what i'll do with the rest of the house when I get round to it. Sanding / painting wooden windows on the first second floor is a real pita - something to consider...

I think it's a bit "different" which is why I like it. The wood cills are a lot more expensive but I think soften it slightly. Our concern was the powder coated black cills would be quite susceptible to scratching. An occasional oil I happy with, painting I am not.
The fascias are only 150mm so almost entirely covered by the guttering, the soffits are 225mm but only about 150mm visible.
