I wondered what finishes people have opted for, and if the heat was a problem. Plaster board could get quite hot.

Tiles / Bricks / Plated out with some sort of steel fitting, then have it plastered or tiles on top ??

Any suggestions or advice........scratchchin
The guys who did ours (photo a few posts previously) just rendered the inside of the fireplace; it's brick behind. The fireplace is on an internal wall in our house, and the other side of the back of the fireplace is in the kitchen. When the fire has been burning hot for a few hours the kitchen wall feels so hot you can't comfortably hold your hand on it in the area nearest the stove. I'm not sure if it will do the bricks any harm but it will certainly warm the kitchen up a bit.

Before we decorate the room I might make up a shield to hide behind the stove if anyone thinks the wall getting so hot could cause any problems.

If I were buying another one, I'd look at a Hwam Vivaldi. I have something similar but not normally sold in this country. I prefer a rear flue exit rather than a flue out of the top, regs say you have to turn it through 90 degrees to vertical within 6". Sorry, I've got to go and add some more logs...

Very nice indeed. Looks to be an ideal log burner installation too.

I'd guess its a Morso 6148 or a 7648

A timely bump for this topic. Just moved into a new house and had this put in over the last week.

Just needs a spot of paint on the wall ( and the whole rest of the house).

Loving having an indoor fire again.

These pictures were taken about 7 months ago before we finished renovating the house.

I'll post some new ones over the weekend.

Anyone here use a Montrose woodburner? Got a chance of a free one, about 5kw, been in regular use until about a year ago. It looks fine, I have a feeling it will be better than the newer 'Chinese' ones?
