Well, much as we want to be hard men I would suggest leave the key downstairs so if they ever do come back and get in they can get the key and go. Personally I wouldn’t hide it.

Yeah, I’ve taken as many security precautions as I reasonably can. I’m not going to barricade myself in like I’m in South Africa or somewhere and the keys are easy enough to find if they get in. I don’t want them near my family.

Wife and I are both in agreement the car should be sold so that’s what we’ll probably do. It’s no surprise the insurance has gone from £600 to £2500 this year! But it’s not worth the stress or hassle.

I would say yes they are useful. This was noticed/ happened a few days before we went away (not sure when exactly). Good news is that we had sash jammers on the inside of the door so they didn't get in. Cost us a new handle and lock before our trip.

Annoyingly that was the only door that didn't have anti snap on and they targeted it.

The reason it didn't have the lock was the original one was stuck in and the locksmith said he may damage the door getting it out.

All rear doors have sash jammers and now and anti snap so that's all we can do.

Agreed, and if they really wanted in they'd simply smash a window.

Install laminated glass where possible (French door, flag windows etc)

Once we get them replaced we will look to do this. The locksmith who came out said that smashing glass is not that common now as it's both loud and the crims are worried about cutting themselves on glass and leaving dna.

The CSI chap who came to ours said the same. Said they just want an easy life and if they can’t get into yours will just move to an easier target.

He also said that despite all the stuff you hear about forced entry and smashing down the doors for the keys to an RS6, it’s still incredibly rare. Said he could count on one hand the ones he’s had of those and they were all generally targeted where they knew people had gold / jewellery / watches etc….

Use a faraday box to try to avoid relay theft, upgrade the euro locks to 3 star and make sure the windows and doors are locked and closed. That should hopefully keep the majority out. Or at least that’s what I’m hoping.

I went for the GreenteQ Orion when we moved into our new house.

Work out a bit cheaper than ABS and can still be keyed alike and built to order. 3* rated and will pay out £2000 if they gain access by snapping the cylinder. The locksmith recommended them over the ABS when I enquired about cylinders. So far I'm happy with them but not had them long.

I've also teamed them up with some PAS24 handles for belt and braces. Worst case if someone gets in then I think I could use the handles as a weapon they weigh that much hehe

To be honest as long as you have some decent 3* cylinders then that would deter most thieves. They want an easy life and aren't going to be spending minutes at your door picking or drilling. In my head I just want to make my place less appealing/more secure than the neighbours in the hope they'd move onto an easier target.
