Earlier this year a mate in our car club posted a video via whatsapp.
He had been clearing trees/shrubs etc and was going to burn them.
He had a jerrycan of petrol available....
He poured it ( we think a full 5 gals) over. Walked aeay to get a torch going...a 2’ length of wood with rag wrapped on one end and petrol.
He lit it......
Walked to the cuttings and touched it to the pile.
WHOOF!
F**k me it was spectacular.
He fell away, nearly down a ditch.
His son was filming and was creased up.
He did go to A&E and now has perfect facial complexion...it took a few years off his looks.
His eyebrows have grown back.
His arm is now ok with new hairs.
A week after the bonfire we were at Prescott Hill at a car event and he strolled over. He had driven up ( 100+ miles) and looked horrific. Red face minus skin, swollen lips, arm in a dressing. Taking painkillers.
The video is not available now so sorry for disappointment.
It has enhanced his reputation though.
We have booked him for Nov 5th and told him he will be seated on top of the bonfire.

It was the juxtaposition of the flower photo that had me all creased up!

Yes. That moment of artistic sanity amid the madness.....

A quality post from the OP that was pitched perfectly.

Linked from the Covid gardening thread. I'd missed it the first 4 or 5 times round.

You haven't lived until you've panic hosed various things you didn't intend to burn down.

Someone tried to burn down a shed at the back of our flats a few days ago. It wasn't theirs and was 3 feet away from the back door of the flats.

The flats had to be evacuated and it required two Scottish Fire and Rescue appliances and their crew wearing BA sets to extinguish the conflagration!

Does it really achieve anything? Unless everything is burnt into ash you just end up with a massive mess and burnt chunks of wood that still need to be chucked.
Did you not see the pictures? it was on fire. ON FIRE.
Davepoth makes a very good point.

Everytime it comes this comes up in my topics, a smile comes across my face.

I'm so much older and risk averse now.

Pity

Yoy may be older and safer, but your thread stands as a memorial to your youth and devil-may-care - as well as good fun for all who chance upon it, like myself.

It's fixable...

This thread has been linked again. I enjoy it every time and wish I had a shed to burn but alas mine is too close to the boundary and everyone else's gardens so I'd have no chance of getting away with it.
