It's surrey I am going to hire a van I have most stuff already so we definatly need a van as some of the furniture is quite big along with my kayaks. I am taking everything then deciding what to throw when I get there and settle in a bit. I definatly need to invest in a roofrack for the car now as the nearest water is too far to walk with a kayak on the shoulder. I am taking another trip to the hogsback brewery before I move so I have some unpacking fuel.

Last thing to pack is a kettle and four mugs (and a four pack of chilled beer). First thing to unpack (see above).
And a flask of tea + biscuits to sustain during moving.

And ONE box/file with all key paperwork in.

And a fish butty for lunch to sustain you.

And a nice card to drop to your neighbours with your mobile number and name. Good start with neighbours = easy life ongoing.

We are in same boat moving from a flat to our first house in August. Trying to figure out how to move our tropical fish. Only 25 miles so thinking put the fish into bags and most of the water in a 25/50 litre drum and set their tank up first at the new place.

Anyone moved their tanks in the past?

OP- Morrisons have banana boxes with lids for free. Quite sturdy too.

IKEA boxes are good value as well. Very sturdy.

Also - worth joining your local FreeCycle and asking for some....

Our fish are only moving 2 miles my plan is as follows. One clean plastic picnic box washed with some tank water. Place fish with tank water and filter sponge inside shut lid. Transport filter heater and tank to new destination as quickly as possible i.e pack last unpack first. Then set the tank up and use the original tank water from the picnic box with the fish in. After the first two days test the PH, nitite and Nitrate levels and carry out a water change if necesssary. the levels may fluctuate a bit whilst the fish are stressed but it should be fine after a week.

My new house is currently being built and is due for completion in September, I'm both excited and scared. My current house cost me just £52,000 when I bought in 2002, my new house is £190,000! I know there are plenty of others who have houses which have cost considerably more, however this is a big deal for me.

I've spent hours/days chosing the spec of every single room, making sure I've thought of everything and I'm now just sitting back and waiting for it to be completed. I've been planing to move for 3 years and spent over a year deciding where to move and where to buy.

You know why they laminate the pages of those in store? Its so the pages don't get all soggy from the tears of joy.

Don't forget to set time and emotional energy to one side when to take delivery; you are likely to have a list of snagging jobs needing completion.... Margins are tight and sadly workers cut corners.

Absolutely, already thought about it. It's the second new build property I've bought.

I just thought they were laminated for wipe clean purposes due to the dribblers that work there. Here let me right down the product code and check it's in stock for you then pay for it and collect it from the warehouse myself you mongs.
