I'm hoping to get a recommendation here. At the moment we have this stupid doorbell that plays a tune and can't be heard outside of the hall. I need a battery operated bell that goes "ding-dong" very loudly! Can someone point me in the right direction? Cheers...

Argos.co.uk! That's where mine is from and it works fine. There's a portable unit I can put in the garden if I'm outside. Or to confuse the neighbours.

PS I suspect your model has a function to change the sound to a ding-dong...

Thanks but Argos only seem to have wireless models. I only after a simple box that fits by the door.

I've tried to change the melody to something other than a tune but to no avail frown

Oh. Those wireless ones are pretty good. I've had mine on the front door for about 5 years and the battery hasn't gone yet. Mind you, I don't seem to get many visitors these days...

If they actually made a door bell that said "Ding Dong!" in his voice I would buy it laugh

On a recommendation I have ordered one of these:

I will let you know how I get on but the clip sounds promising.

"Ding-dong" = doorbell
"brrriiinnnnggg" = supervisor to checkout number 5

That is all.

biggrin

You could really confuse yourself by putting your mobile phone ring tone on the doorbell. Or having the Nokia tune on the doorbell and a ding-dong on the mobile phone.

You could do what my grandparents did. They had 3 doorbells: one that went 'ding-dong', a really old wind-up one and an actual bell on the outside. That way they never got tired of hearing just one all the time smile

For distance between the push and the sounder, you need one of these, and plenty of different tones to choose from.

Not the cheapest though.

I think "ding dong" is Leslie Phillips, not Terry Thomas.

My wife would kill me!

The doorbell arrived the other day but I've not had chance to fit it - looks OK for a tenner though.
