At a guess, I'd say that a local cat has just had its worming treatment and has proceeded to dump the remnants on your decking...

Could be slime mold (but it's usually a deeper colour).

Well, whatever it was, it had turned into a dark purple blob by the time I got home from work! I hit it with the hosepipe and it looked like neat Ribena all over the decking.
