The tenants are either liars or have some form of mental shortcoming. It does amaze me when tenants seem shocked that the rent needs to be paid. Almost as much as when a landlord is agrived that a tenant leaves when the tenancy ends.

Agreed, one of my tenats went in arrears with me and broke every promise they made. I went with the section 8 and kept them well informed as to all the key dates. Even in the last few days they we asking if they really did have to leave, and was there any grace period etc. I just told them all they needed to do was pay the rent and they could stay as long as they liked!

On the last day the rent suddenly arrived in my account, and they have not missed a day since.
