You can buy a Honeywell 8 zone complete system for less than £150, if all the wires are in place it will be an easy instal. You may need to add a few more PIRs.

Cheaper if you shop around.
That looks perfect, cheap too. I have 6 core wires to each blank faceplate. I wonder how easy it will be to run wires from my smoke detectors to it....http://cpc.farnell.com/honeywell-security/8ep407n-...

I'll wait to hear back from my dad to see what he comes up with, but that's a possibility.
Have several customers with banham alarms, not worth it over other monitored systems TBH.
Average kit with a good marketing. Had an installer who couldn't communicate in english on a job recently, not unusual in industry today but for a top priced system some might expect the installer to be able to show you what he's done/how it works.
Oh, and banham systems normally send out a distress call if you turn the power off for whatever reason. Evan after you've phoned to tell them the powers going off. Alarms, phone ringing, false alarm penalty clause ($$$) etc. Other systems don't operate this way.

I had an ADT alarm....the customer service was absolutely fking god awful.
We now have a Banham alarm having done the complete house refurb. Have had it for five years and the customer service has been superb. Very helpful if ever there is an issue.
I am sure you can do it cheaper but frankly if I am out of the house or away and the alarm is faulty do I want SWMBO screaming down the phone at me saying my DIY alarm has woken the kids up or do I want peace of mind knowing that at the very worst it'll be sorted within an hour.
Depends where you live too but I needed to have a monitored alarm system for insurance purposes (London).
I am sure there are firms as reliable as Banham that don't charge the price though.
