Similar experience here - bought a few Karchers gradually working up the range but got fed up for them expiring after a couple of years. Bit the bullet and got a decent Nilfisk (E140) with a metal pump and a longer rubber hose from Q Washers so I wouldn't have to drag it around to wash the car. No issues with it so far.
Exactly this. E140 off amazon. hose/lances off QWashers. all you'll ever need

Mine has just died - it was approx 5yrs old.

Annoyingly the major parts are fine but the switch on the pump has corroded - I tried shorting it but turning it on and off at the pump rather than with the gun - doesn't work very well.

The intake was corroded too and the hose had got a couple of kinks in it where the outer plastic had worn.

Probably only done 60 hours work.

Always been a Karcher fan but like you've mentioned the motor doesn't tend to last long plus they are prey noisy too!

I will look at a few Nilfisk options. IIRC I've spent around £200 on my current Marcher 2 years ago - the model is now discontinued though. How noisy are the Nilfisk washers?

my Karcher packed up last month, similar story only less than 2yrs old and minimal usage, patio, cars etc.

After reading this thread a Nilfisk Alto Force 7 C130 was brought and I am very impressed, far cheaper than the equivalent karcher and hopefully will last a lot longer.

I bought a Nilfisk P150.2 last year - too early to comment on reliability but it feels like a really substantial bit of kit.

Got one of the cheaper Nilfisks for £65 off Amazon, came complete with patio cleaner head and a few other tools. Did my 20mx20m courtyard with it, ran pretty much continuously for 9 hours and still fine.

Not sure why I didn't buy one sooner.

Replaced my Karcher with a Nilfisk. Quieter, lighter, more kit, just as effective, if not more so, and half the price I paid for the Karcher.

I got this Simpson, powerful and noisy. Braided hose, which is long. The beauty is I can return it anytime!

I have got a middle off the rwnge Karcher, but it suffers wit the hose and lance breaking quite regularly.

So I bought one of these, which has more brass fittings and pump parts, and has been faultless.

http://www.sitebox.ltd.uk/makita-hw131-pressure-wa...

It's discontinued now, but I would recomend the Makita semi pro rwnge to anyone looking to buy a new pressure washer.

Well i went and clicked on my own ebay link above for "proper" pressure washers and it came up with this one ending in 60 seconds - and won it for £82

I dont even need one - but that was a really good price.

I've had a C120 for about 3 years, it works fine apart from the lance which now seems to squirt water out of the joints along the length so there isn't so much pressure at the tip. I've stripped it and reassembled, even tried putting PTFE tape over the O ring sections, but no joy. I'm wondering if the tip itself is partly blocked and causing back pressure, but it looks OK.

Can you buy spare tips for the lance as this might be worth a try?
