Heating is kicking in occasionally now so I thought that I'd have a look at the Tado graph. Can't find it though - either on the laptop or the iPhone.

Can someone remind me how to access the graphs please

There's a new wifi thermostat that work are selling - the Netatmo Smart Thermostat. Integrates with things like their weather station and (I think) the camera.

May be of some interest, it's on my list when the tuets come!

On 9th September Tado tweeted - The report was deleted from web app. We're improving/reworking it (new version in Q1/2016) In the meantime, please use mobile app report.

I checked and the icon has gone from the web, but I am still able to turn my android mobile app to landscape and see the report.

Turn your phone landscape and voila!

Don't quite know why they took the web one offline - perhaps they had to replace their API/Data layer to support the new IFTTT functionality etc!

Thanks both - therein lies my problem as my iPhone has recently decided that it won't do landscape mode any more frown

edit - a quick Google and removing the orientation lock has fixed it getmecoat

Tado has been ok for me too. Batteries don't last long. Mine was installed end of Jan and it's claiming they're low already. Typically can't find the little screwdriver that came with it now either. I'm going to stick some lithium batteries in so hopefully they'll last a lot longer. 7 and a bit months is pathetic.

Heating strategy is good. Location thingy is useless.

I'm annoyed about the report feature going as I use that to make sure it is behaving and that it hasn't been losing the connection. The mobile version is useless.

I haven't revisite4d this thread for a while so I'm sorry if this info comes too late!!

The nest is simply a clever electronic sensor/timer that is married to wireless relay (heat link) box. The stat is merely 12v and instructs the heat link to open and close a circuit. You could in theory have the stat turn the power on to the underfloor heating mat.

Problem is that this isn't really what it is designed for, and a floor temp sensor works better. Sadly, the UK nest doesn't have provision for external sensors...
I've just picked up a Nest myself. Decided to do away with hot water controls and just using an immersion heater for it during the summer so the Nest on its own is fine. Haven't installed it yet, but had a poke in the box, I don't get what that heat link box does? is it just a transformer for 230 - 12v with the wifi?

With regards to external sensors, in the States I'm using Ecobee3 which is fantastic, each unit comes with a little external sensor (little bee!) and a stand you activate them in front of the thermostat and it pairs it, each thermostat can have several paired to it, and you can put them in different rooms around the house. I believe its launching in the UK about now, and is well worth a look.

Have you spoken to support? Mine was showing me at home when I was in my local pub. Wife also works quite close to home.

One phone call and all was sorted.

Yes by email. Lots of times. It was showing me as going out about 10 times an hour during the night. Phone is on table untouched all this time. It's bizarre. It also shows me at home when I'm miles away.

I think they've fiddled with it a bit more for this year so I'll see whether it is more reliable than it was. From the product description I expected it to turn the heating down when I went out but that it was clever enough to start heating long enough before I got in so the house was nearly warm. It's never managed that, ever. It's always meant a stone cold house where the heating has started from 10 minutes before you get in from a temperature that takes at least an hour or more to heat from.

IFTTT allows you to automate tasks depending on events or button presses (IFTTT GO). https://ifttt.com

It brings loads of internet things together so you can come up with your own 'recipes' so, if you wanted, you could automate your FB status status change when your alarm goes off. Or automatically text the Mrs when you are in Tesco asking if she wants you to get something. Switch off wifi on your phone when you leave home etc etc or just create task and link it to a button. So, i have just linked Tado into IFTTT and set up 'GO' buttons so i don't have to login to Tado to quickly switch it off/on.

Cheers for that. I've just added similar buttons to my phone. I've also tweeted them asking if they have any intentions of producing a current status widget for Tado as it would be great to be able to look at your screen and see what mode it's in.

Also while I was at it set up an IFTTT to turn off / turn on my wifi when I leave home / return home. Great pottential with IFTTT's.

If it works by using GPS on your phone, that's never going to be accurate enough. It needs to at least use your wifi signal as well to locate you accurately.

No worries, would you let me know if your wifi recipe works? I haven't had any joy with that so far.

Its quite addictive, I have just ordered a wifi lightbulb so I can automate it going on and off with sun rise/set and flash when I get emails/text messages.

I take it you have one then? Have you found any good uses for it or is it one of those things which really isn't that useful in the end?

It does use wifi. For some reason the reported gps location of the phone alters even when connected to wifi. That seems to confuse it. It's some apple related reason I'm assuming.

I had an issue similar previously, but I had recently moved house and I believe the WiFi network had been geolocated at my old address and refused to change.

Ended up using another router and worked fine.
