Loads of us on this thread have installed that if you go back a few pages smile
Yep, spotted that after I had posted, how are you finding it?

V.
I have had a Tado for about 6 months now. All fine, no issues. Bill down from same period last year, although hard to attribute to the thermostat, could just be milder weather

key saving comes from being able to turn off remotely when away on business for days on end

Looking at heating degree data for the winter just gone it was a milder winter by roughly 20%.

I find that anyway, even our water heat ever two or three days and only if we loose the sun as we have a clever solar / electric immersion diverter on our PV's

V.
What PV setup do you have? Might be interested in doing something similar where it diverts to heating hot water if there is excess solar capacity.

RE Tado, got it working finally yesterday, managed to transpose the heating and hot water wires. Also worked out I'd accidentally put the Y-Plan valve in manual mode (whoops!)

Obviously don't need it for heating at the moment but it seems to be working as per plan. Nice turning the hot water on via iphone this morning! Looking forward to the IFTTT / Smartthings / HomeKit integration which they are promising via their kickstarter, could be pretty cool.

Thanks, yes I only found it on some Dutch websites but was hoping for a UK one. Ah well, that will do. Cheers.

Does it matter how many boilers you have? We have a twin Potterton set up (parallel, no wet heating zones, but 4 dry underfloor areas, Drayton timer, wired Drayton thermostat dial).

I certainly want CH and FH control, not too fussed about the underfloor at the moment. Any thoughts?

Apologies for possibly a stupid question but as I'm one of those foreigners who are not very familiar with gas boilers, I'm presently choosing between a Vaillant and a Worcester Bosch and am curious if it makes any difference to it's compability. Does it work just as well with a Vaillant?

I know i am being lazy and not reading through whole topic but i have a dual zone system on an ideal logic+ combi boiler, with weather compensator. Due to having a father in law in a very cool job i have been offered a hive installation for free.

Now the system i have is brand new and the house is on a B epc rating already and as close to being passive as i can get without mechanical air circulation.

Is hive going to be of any great use in reducing bills or is it really aimed at those old inefficient systems?

Also with 2 zones would i require 2 hives?

I'm going to give one of these Tado ones a shot. http://www.tado.com/gb/ Just rented one for the year for £41.95. I will see how the savings weigh up before committing to the full purchase.

That's what I did about 7 months ago. Will be buying it shortly - esp now i have seen the summer deal price. Does what it says on the tin, so no complaints from me.

I need to sort something soon as my current thermostat has no scheduling option. What are my options that have a physical device (as well as an app), and that are easily purchasable and easy to have fitted? As far as I see it, tado is out (app only?) and nest and hive are in. What else is there? Do the thermostats all require wired power? And where can they be placed?

Thanks

Anybody know of a smart thermostat that supports multi-stage heating in the UK? The US Nest does, but I can't figure out whether the UK version does.

Ive got the Salus IT500 as have a few others on this thread. Very pleased with it, does everything I want. easy to setup. Has phone/PC app as well as manual unit with the remote stat in it. I prefer this to stat on the wall as you can have it in the room you inhabit

the thermostat is battery operated, the control box replaces the other controls on your boiler

If you do buy the TADO system use quidco and get a further 10% off of the discount price. I'm just looking at it now to see if it will work with my setup.

I'd have preferred a Tado system, but enquiries to their engineers about my CH/DHW setup means they don't think its compatible. I'm now heading towards the installed Hive stuff from BG. Few more enquiries first though.

Tado ordered - will be interesting to see how we get on with it.

Edited to add - those of you that have ordered a Tado online did you get an order confirmation? I think my email is playing up but it may be that they don't send order confirmations...
