Also, can someone talk me through the pairing process for the various boxes?

I've got it powered up, both wireless thermostat and extension box, but they're not talking to the bridge. I've discovered that holding down the home button seems to put it in some sort of connection mode, but it doesn't seem to be connecting.

Thanks.
I believe they need to put it into pairing mode their end. They certainly did for mine. They're worth a phone call.

Try and speak to Daniel.

Is that something that would normally happen when you complete the installation?

Will give them a call and see what's what.

So are people getting real benefit from these WiFi units or is it more a case of a technology looking for a peoblem?

I love my gadgets but I can't help feeling that a WiFi enabled thermostat may by slightly OTT.
I doubt very much it is saving me money as someone is normally home, but I just like toys smile

Having said that, I am someone who wears t-shirts until it more or less snows so if my wife goes out I can change the temperature on my phone. So no money saved, but calories gained frownsmile

Called them and all working now.

They insisted on checking everything I'd done first, I'd wired it up right, but there's a jumper in the extension kit that needed to be put the other way. If you have to freestyle it you'll probably assume you've got the jumper right as the labelling suggests option 1 for wiring 1 and option 2 for wiring 2. I've got it set as option 2 for wiring 1. No idea why, but it appears to be working.

My tado stat arrived and I'm working through the install. Support seem to turn it into a drama. I just need them to unblock the website (now done) so I can register the devices. Now I'm blocked as there are no specific instructions, even though I don't require any.

I expect it to be done by tomorrow.

Anyone got the Worcester Bosch wave? Looks the same as the one the chap from Norway posted on here a while back. Problem is it says the Wave only works with certain Worcester boilers? Is this true or is it just a switch?

I've got the Salus thing and I hate it.

Just had my heating engineer call up to say that we will not be able to use the Wave as it is for Gravity fed systems and not system boilers/unveted cylinders. I am having my boiler replaced 18th December so have a bit of time to think about it, so has anyone got any suggestions for controlling the heating and hot water via a tablet/phone that will work with a system boiler and unvented cylinder? A nice to have would be a thermostat that we could move between rooms as well.
Any ideas from the knowledgeable on here?
Thanks
The Hive kit will work with this system and is being opened up to work on multi zone systems as well. PM me if you want more info.

The Wave is the same as my Nefit Easy (im not Norwegian!!)

It will work with any OpenTherm protocol boiler, although you may need the extra adaptor depending on the model.

Its made by Bosch ThermoTechnik and is sold under various names in different markets... ive been using it since April and have zero complaints.
Sorry ! Thanks for the reply :-)

Has anybody looked at honeywell Evohome?

As expensive as it is, it gives complete control over every room in the house including water which surely must save you money in the long term?

As nice as the nest and tado are, other than being slightly smarter Thermostats they don't do anything to regulate every room in the house.

Happy to answer any questions. We aren't using it to control hot water as ours is an unvented megaflow HW system. I gather there may be workarounds, but given the excellent insulation in megaflows and similar systems, I'm not sure there would be much in the way of savings or increase in convenience doing this.

A couple of quick questions chaps about the Tado.

A) Is the standard thermostat in the box portable? Ie can I take it to the bedroom overnight?

B) is it easy to self install? Just looks like wiring in 3 wires?

I have a gloworm boiler and a normal wall mounted none programmable thermostat.

Quick replies appreciated because I only have 2 hours left to order it off Amazon for delivery today. This is very important because I have a day off today and I like gadgets hehe

A - No
B - Yes, although you need Tado to enable it before it will work, but easy enough to set up.

The V1 Tado came with 2 thermostats that you could use. One in the controller, which I have in the airing cupboard and then a second thermostat which you could move around (have this installed on the wall in lounge with velcro so can be moved around). Not sure if this has changed in v2.

I've had my Tado about a week now. I'm really happy with the system and the ability to be able to control the heating when I am away from home. Sadly the phone feature doesn't work great on my phone as I work close to home and travel around so it would always think I'm coming home when in fact I'm just driving close to home. I have set the wife's phone up and it works well and I just manually control it from my phone.

I installed the system myself and followed the online guide which had it working very quickly and no need to phone anyone.

Sadly the device has one temp sensor which is built into the thermostat on the wall. I'd have preferred to have one that I could carry to each room as in a morning I am waking up and the bedroom is far to hot so having to adjust individual radiators etc.

Overall very happy but not convinced it will save any money but an extra gadget to play with smile

Maybe it has - I just got a single wired in thermostat with mine, which I've had for a few weeks now

Biggest drawback for me is that it (currently) only allows you to set a single temperature. My old Honeywell wireless allowed me to set different temperatures for different times of day, which suited better as I could set a higher temp in the evening.

Overall though the ability to control it remotely and the presence detection makes it worthwhile

Could you not just move the thermostat around? Does it have to be wall mounted?
