Evohome users- Can you tell me if the system is 2 way in operation?, base station sends signal to the try's but if you adjust a trv via its head does this setting then get sent back to the base station or is it a 1 way communication?.
No, it appears to be one way. You adjust the TRV and it will retain whatever manual setting is made until the next schedule period, when it will revert to the base unit program. A small clock symbol on the TRV display indicates if the current setting is the programmed temp, or a different one. I was surprised that the base unit doesn't indicate the manual change. It would surely be a simple addition to the programming. It's worth noting that to save battery power, signals between base unit and TRVs and relays are on a five minute cycle, not constantly.
Heating is all good and well, but what about hot water?
I have a shower in the morning, so it only needs to be about 38-40degrees, but the missus likes a hot bath in the evening, so 45degrees is probably better. It'll need to burst to 60degrees at least one to kill of bacteria, so I could time that with the missuses bath, and she can mix cold water to get it full quicker.

I have bought a kit earlier today and fitted it just tweaking it now, Yes I can see that now thats a bit crap if I'm honest that its not 2 way as you say should update back to the base station also I have 2 rads in the bathroom and if i manually turn 1 down i would have liked the other to go down as well as they are set up on the same zone. :-(I was surprised that the base unit doesn't indicate the manual change. I have a Hive as well down in my garden summerhouse and that is better in the way it responds to changes it updates instantly and both ways.
Any thoughts on this? It appears today my Devilink CC system has broken so I am now considering binning the Salus WiFi that does the heating which I hate, the wired in Honeywell programmer for the water and the now defunct Devilink for the electric underfloor heating, and rolling everything all into this?

Hi all,
About to have a new heating system installed next week and my research has lead me here.
I'm getting:
Worcester bosch 40cdi regular boiler
Mega flow equivalent unvented cylinder
To replace an ageing variant of the above, ie gravity fed system.
I like the idea of a smart programmer/thermostat and wondered what others thought might best suit?
Requirements:
- Large, 5 bed detached house
- 19 radiators
- Thinking about 2 zones, up/down
- Usually someone in the house all day
- Need to independently control stored hot water time/ideally temp; it's an s plan system so possible.
Which of the new smart offerings do you think will best suit? Quite like the tado but unsure how useful it is if someone is in the house most of the time..
Any help, much appreciated.

I'm still not happy with the new Android App, I can't find the Week view anywhere, so I presume that's gone. I really liked it, though it should have been previous x days rather than the current week. I also preferred the graph to be overlaid with colour to show when the heating was on etc, rather than clicking on an icon to get a highlight.
Anyway, a couple of weeks with V2 now and I'm much happier. There must have been something wrong with my V1 as it was kicking in late and then letting the house get too hot before turning off. V2 is holding temperature perfectly and dropping it a degree it has reduced the temp in the house and held it there perfectly. You've no idea how happy this makes me as I was constantly messing about with V1 trying to get it to hold a consistent temperature.
I've been looking at my heating data, some mornings my heating has kicked in at 5:30 for a 7:30 start and this seems quite wasteful really. I think the control needs more finesse as when I know we're both going to be out at work I'd like it to limit itself in someway. I'd rather be a bit colder than have the heating on for a couple of hours for me to just leave the house half an hour after getting up.

Just set a later weekday start time? It'll still be in the warming up phase as you leave, then it'll turn itself off.Anyway, a couple of weeks with V2 now and I'm much happier. Windows app is garbage the eco and comfort switch is the wrong way around to the android one so wrong way when you select eco on windows it has actually selected comfort! That is also same with the additional schedule for people without phone on windows off is actually on its bloody stupid!
