I had no idea where in CC it was then wink If you'd still have been on FB you'd have been hunted down biggrin

Now, however, I do (and so does the rest of PH wink )

Have flat in Swanage access now, be very wary of your doorbell biggrinwink

Absolutely love this house, shame to see it being sold but the thread and final product are an inspiration for me to do something similar one day!

Wow, I'm really surprised you're selling so soon. You must really love stress, Gary?!

My brother's looking at houses in the same area, a little under your price bracket though, having recently had a cash buyer on his place in Talbot Woods. Problem is, my brother's not decided yet whether to buy something that's ready to move in to, or buy and develop - living off site.

By the sounds of it, Gary had a great team working with him and no doubt learn't so much (things to do differently) he wants to have another crack at the dream house.

Exactly this. When I started, I was told by a few people that one of two things will happen; either I would hate the whole process and never want to do it again OR I would love it and get the bug to do it again. With it being the latter I want to build something again but different.

Hi Gary,

Although an old thread, I’ve just come across it as we are commencing a similar renovation project and at the stage of choosing the outside render/cladding.

Would you mind me asking which render system you went with? We’re going with Baumit and having EWI as well.
In terms of cladding was the wood Marley Weatherboard in Light Oak??
Where did you source the external slate cladding from?

Hi Janbo,

No idea what render was used.
I believe the wood cladding is Marley Cedral but cannot remember the colour we used.
The external cladding is Charcoal XLS from Nortstone. Link I got it from here - http://www.brick-clad.co.uk/

Another option for the stone cladding is Tier Systems - http://www.tiersystems.co.uk/

I sourced mine via Bradfords and my contractor so the VAT element was zero rated for me which on a self-build is essential for the cash flow.

Here's a recent'ish picture
